Head-Design & Engineering for a Leading Power Plant Engineering Firm @ Major South Indian Metro City

PURPOSE AND SCOPE OF THE POSITION: 

Review of projects for timely availability of drawing and documents.  Provide support to project implementation and proposals team in evaluation of technical options for optimum engineering solutions in terms of technology and capital cost.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Develop and build up the Design section at the Design office, Chennai in all respects including human resources, standardized technical documents and procedures.
2. Review and approval of engineering & design documents submitted by EPC contractors / Package vendors in close co-ordination with project team.
3. Participate in design review meetings, project review meetings 
4. Ensure technical interface matching and integration of various packages.
5. Technical support to the proposals such as Defining the Design Criteria, Preliminary calculations for the overall plant performance and determining the ratings of major equipment and sub systems and Carry out independent technical review of the final proposal.
6. Provide Technical inputs and assistance in obtaining project clearances as required.
7. Preparation of equipment and systems specifications for projects as well as review of specifications prepared by engineering consultants
8. Technical evaluation of bids/offers submitted by vendors/EPC contractors.
9. Resolution of technical problems reported from site during construction and issue design changes.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS: (EDUCATIONAL QUALIFICATION, MINIMUM YEARS OF EXPERIENCE, OTHER ADDITIONAL SKILLS REQUIRED FOR THE POSITION )

• Expertise in the design of Power Plant and related equipment
• 25 + years experience in the power plant engineering of large capacities
• B. Tech / M. Tech in Mechanical / Electrical Design expertise
• Knowledge of contemporary power industry best design practices
• Ability to give and motivate a large team of technical professionals
• Should be able to lead Mechanical, Electrical, Instrumentation and Civil Design teams.
