Job Purpose
- To build and manage the Company’s network of channel partners on a nation-wide basis, initially concentrating on states in the center, north, and north east
- To effectively represent and sell the Company’s range of distribution products through these channel partners
- To build a strong supporting distribution team over time - in line with the growth in unit sales and revenue
Principal Accountability
- To maximize distribution products sold through the company’s channel partners in India
- To exceed sales targets on a consistent, monthly basis without offering any credit
- To map markets, and identify the high priority markets for sale of distribution products
- To identify channel partners in these markets – both distributors and dealers
- To manage channel partners effectively
- To recruit facilitators (assistant sales managers) who will help channel partners sell
- To ensure that demos and door to door selling happen according to plan
- To identify financial institutions that will finance the Company’s range of distribution products
- To sign MOU’s with financial institutions and work closely to ensure credit flows to customers
- To methodically approach key accounts – corporates, NGOs, government, etc. - for bulk sales
- To work closely with the product development team on new product requirements / changes
- To establish an effective system of monthly sales reporting, and forecasting for efficient supply
- To work with marketing to ensure sales collateral is relevant to target products and segments
Experience Required
- Minimum 15 years of sales management experience
- Experience in managing a team 30-40 personnel
- Hands-on sales experience distribution sales of FMCG products, or products of high unit value
- Successful track record in handling large key accounts
- Aggressive sales management with a strong record of exceeding sales targets
- Ideally experience in working with banks for customer financing of products
- Displays strong, clear communication skills
- A real self-starter, able to take initiative and operate independently of regular coaching
- A strong leader able to motivate and lead the distribution team to success
- Can present himself / herself well and properly represent the company
- Solid technical understanding, ideally engineering degree
- MBA degree is preferred
